JOB DESCRIPTION

Software Engineer

About Canopy Study

Canopy Study is an AI-based education company that is empowering the world to learn, by creating software where you can *learn anything*. We enable students and teachers to upload notes and lesson material to create study resources in a matter of minutes, a process that has historically taken days. We want teachers to spend less time marking (we have an auto grading system), and instead focus on engaging students on a more personalised level. It’s time that we empower the world to learn, and show everyone what happens when you bring next-generation technologies to education.

Our team is responsible for making a world-class user experience that feels like magic. We use the latest technologies in web development, systems architecture, and artificial intelligence.

About the team

Canopy Study is a team of four, an Ops person focusing on finance/sales/marketing, and three engineers that cover expertise in frontend, backend, infra, and ML & Data Science. We also have two contractors, a Graphics Designer, and a Learning Designer!

You’ll find the team is in the office 95% of the time (although we are always open to remote work if anyone does want to WFH). With such a close-nit collaborative culture, we’re able to maintain a relatively nice looking calendar 😅. On Mondays we have weekly planning sessions and on Fridays we finish up with Power Hour, mentioning our wins for the week. The week often finishes up with a game of something! Most days a few of us will also go to City Edge in Surry Hills and grab lunch together.
